PROJECTS  Development of Explosion Proof Medium Voltage VFD

A2Z Consulting ltd. team was involved in the development of explosion proof Medium Voltage VFD for mining application. Due to space constraints (low height) and explosive environments, Medium Voltage VFDs for mining applications (AFC – Armored Face Conveyors and plow applications) are installed inside a low profile, explosion proof enclosure. Due to the high IP (Ingres Protection) level of the enclosure, hybrid air/water cooling system is used. Additional requirements include 4Q operation (for conveyors), long cables to the electric motor (require special filters) and high reliability (shutdowns creates very high financial losses).
